It’s been a while over the winter training but now we are back in the diving season training has stepped up to prepare us for the summer ahead.
This week Kev has organised a fun session of a cross between kit testing and safety drill.
All divers should carry some form of cutting tool to deal with any stray pieces of fishing net that may take a shine to them but how many actually try using them before they are needed?
Starting on dry land the traditional divers knives were already running into problems as they just weren’t sharp enough to cut without a lot of pressure.
In the water shears proved successful if a little bit of a fiddle to get into position. The overall favourite was a “Shark big fish” cutter which suggests the hook line cutters are easiest to use and most effective.
Above all else, remember to practice with the kit you have.
