What is a try dive?
Before taking up scuba diving a try dive in the swimming pool with Marlin Sub-Aqua Club in Nuneaton will help you decide how much you’ll love it! A try dive experience also makes a great gift for others and you can order vouchers at the bottom of the page. You can come on your own and will be assured of a warm welcome.
What happens on a try dive?
You will be welcomed by a club committee member who will put you at your ease and answer any immediate questions. Each try dive starts with a brief introduction to diving techniques, and the equipment that you will be using, under the supervision of one of our try dive team. We will assemble your scuba kit and show you how it works, so you don’t need any prior scuba diving knowledge.
Once you have changed into your swimming gear and an old tee-shirt/shorts in the pool’s changing rooms (equipped with cubicles) you will enter the water and then put on the scuba kit. This means there is no heavy kit to lift. In stages, you will slowly start to breathe underwater, first while standing close to the side and moving on to kneeling. Once you are happy we will guide you around the pool slowly progressing to a maximum depth of two metres.
The aim of the try dive is for you to experience scuba diving in a safe and fun environment. You won’t be put under any pressure and we will go at your pace.

All try dives take place on Thursday nights from 8 pm to 10 pm at Pingles Leisure Centre, Avenue Road, Nuneaton, CV11 4LX. We will meet you at Reception but if you are early ask for directions to “the scuba diving club”.
A try dive costs £30. This includes a minimum of 30 minutes of introduction to the equipment and a minimum of 30 minutes in the pool.
Try dives are available to anyone aged 12 and over. For participants under the age of 18 a responsible adult must be present for the whole of the session. They do not need to be in the water.

There are two spaces available for each date but you need to book them individually. If you have a larger group than two or if one of the slots is full please contact us and we’ll confirm instructor availability prior to booking.
Seven full days notice is required if you wish to cancel with a refund.
